Question: Fill in the missing digits in the multiplication.
2 _ 6
_ 3 _
How I solved it:
Firstly I worked out what three times six was. The product is 18 so I put down the eight and carry the one over to the next column. Next I figure out what three times something plus one equals that ends in 3. To do this I go through my three times tables until I reach three times four, which is twelve, and then add one which is thirteen. I put the 4 in the middle of the 2 and 6 and carry the 1 over to the next column. Then, 3 times 2 equals 6, plus I add the 1 that was carried over and the product is 7. I put the 7 down in the answer.
